Hi Chin,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I understand your concern and I'll be glad to assist you. Appreciate your interest in Windows 10.
Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 is not compatible with Windows 10.
However you may run the program in compatibility mode and check if it helps. Follow the below methods and check if it helps.
Method 1:
1. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
2. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7/8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
3. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
Method 2: Uninstall the driver.
Go to the Device Manager (search in the Start menu), find your device, and upgrade the drivers by manually directing it to the setup disc that came with your camera. The drivers may be older but some people have had success with them in Windows 7.
Hope this post helps. Get back to us for further queries. We are happy to help.
I installed the Microsoft VX-3000 yesterday on a laptop with 10.4.9 using Macam 0.9.1 and it works just fine. Here's what I did:
1. Plugged in the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 to 1 of the USB ports on my laptop.
2. Downloaded and opened Macam 0.9.1
3. Copied the Macam file into the Applications folder.
4. Copied the universal file into the Library Quicktime folder.
5. Installed Skype
6. Ran Skype and the video camera worked just fine, after playing with the settings a bit for color & lighting.
So, Yes, the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 does work with the latest version of Macam 0.9.1
